Recessions are developers paradise, acquiring sites, whilst they are on the cheap. Now Acorn House, the building once wholly owned by the NUJ is to see its latest redevelopment. It is the second one in a span of some ten years. Significantly and for the first time, they are proposing flats on the site, for permanent residents. The first time that development does so, which is to be welcomed, as we have seen too many hotels and hostels mushrooming in the area with only temporary populations.
The main part of the development appears to be on the Swinton Street facing site, and the proposal is to add at least two floors to current height of the building.
